unimaginably bizarre as it might be to see the world through insect eyes, it must be even more of a mindfuck to see the world through droplet-covered insect eyes.

incredibly beautiful photography.

Is it just me or does the first insect look really pissed off? Maybe thats just the way he is made.

I really like these pictures.

How do you do that?

Posted by dildo
00:47  /  06/09/2008

Just to let you know, the dew actually forms on the insect. As opposed to say something falling and sticking. The body of the insect drops to lower than the air around it allowing moisture to condense on the insect. That is awesomely disturbing, thinking, that they didn't move while it happened.

@yeah,highkick

I think they are dead, no insect would sit still that long. Still, great pictures and I would also love to see some high-res action.

It's not fake. Insects do become lethargic and even stop moving entirely at lower temperatures.

Posted by Umeboshi
12:12  /  06/09/2008

Easy to do: Just put the insects in the freeer for a while. When you bring them outside, the dew will form, and more importantly, the insects are not moving. Have a friend that did this years ago. Well-known method among photographers.

For the sharpness he got, he may have built up a compisite image from a series of Depth of Field bracketed photos.. Still would have to be a very decent camera, but at that zoom I would imagine the DoF to be much narrower then that. (but my experience with pro digicams is non -existant)
