Ooblecks, Dilatants or more generally Shear Thickening Fluids (STF) are certain types of smart materials whose viscosity changes in response to increasing forces (strain/shear) applied to it by its local immediate environment, e.g. compression, vibration, acceleration or heat. Especially vibration can create some particularly interesting and inspiring effects as shown in the videos below. |

You can create and experiment with your own STF by mixing water and corn/potato starch in an approx. 1:1.33 ratio. |
